Hi, I am Mary, the owner of Jambu the Dalmatian.

Jambu was a gift from a good friend who breeds them. I got him at five months old and he was very reactive when he met other dogs. I felt that if I could not change his behaviour he would have to be returned. He had pulled me over several times as he rose up on his hind legs whenever he met a dog that he wasn’t familiar with. It seemed like a fear response rather than aggressiveness…’attack is the best form of defence’…{does that remind you of some world leaders?}

I decided to take him to training to change his behaviour before I took this drastic step of return. The vet told me about the Canine Classroom, and, I decided to make contact with David.

When we first attended, in 2014, Beck interviewed us and we decided to go as far as intermediate. I always remember David saying ‘Dogs are like humans..not all have the capacity for University..maybe Tafe is as far as they can go!!”

I was determined to try..we practiced daily at home. We all respected the dog’s capacity for development.

Now, three years later, Jambu has been turned from a ‘good dog to a great dog’ and I am so happy that I did not return him. He just passed out of Advanced and now has a ‘university degree’!!!!!

He was meant to stay with me. THANK YOU ALL AT THE CANINE CLASSROOM.

We shall keep coming as we both love the interaction so much. I have much more understanding now of doggy behaviour even though Jambu is the forth Dally I have owned, I have never had such a close relationship with the others. Training has done that. and I feel the council should make every potential dog owner go to training and know how to handle their pet …We certainly would not drive a car without a licence!!

It turns good dog owners into more responsible ones.
