Cavoodle Puppy Training In Brisbane & Sunshine Coast
WE’RE ACCREDITED BY:
Get Cavoodle Puppy Training From An Expert Team
Bringing home a Cavoodle is pure joy. Those teddy-bear curls, soulful eyes, and their instant devotion make it hard not to fall head over paws. But behind the cuteness is a clever, energetic companion who needs guidance early on.
At The Canine Classroom, we’re often asked ‘are Cavoodles easy to train?’ This ever-growing popular mix of poodle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was bred to be close to people, which means they naturally want to be close to their owner at all times. That affectionate nature is lovely in a companion dog, but without structure, it can quickly turn into clinginess, overexcitement, or separation anxiety.
At The Canine Classroom, we specialise in helping Brisbane families raise confident, calm pups using a supportive training approach designed around the unique Cavoodle temperament. Our programs focus on building independence, teaching boundaries, and setting your furry friend up for a happy, balanced dog’s life.
Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy or simply want your bundle of fluff to reach their full potential, we’re here to help.
Why Cavoodle Puppies Need Special Training
Many Cavoodles are surprisingly high-energy (you can thank their Poodle side for this). While they love a cuddle, they also need regular exercise, structure, and mental stimulation to avoid turning into tiny Tasmanian devils.
They’re highly intelligent, which means they learn quickly, but they also learn how to bend the rules. Without the right training approach, this can lead to barking for attention, chewing when bored, or developing unhealthy attachment patterns.
Early training helps shape your pup’s confidence, supports their emotional well-being, and prevents future behavioural problems. It also teaches them how to relax around household noises, greet other dogs politely, and feel safe in new situations.
Simply put, early guidance turns chaos into calm and curiosity into good behaviour.
Puppy Pre-School For Training A Cavoodle Puppy
Our Puppy Pre-School is perfect for Cavoodles under six months old. These classes introduce essential skills in a safe, fun environment, helping sensitive pups build confidence while energetic ones learn how to stay calm.
Using a combination of training methods, including positive reinforcement, luring, and guidance-based approaches, we help your pup develop healthy habits. Think learning through play, required correction, plenty of praise, and lots of tail wags.
We Have 2 Available Puppy Classes That Are Great For Training Cavoodle Puppies:
Puppy Pre-School (2–4 Months)
- Focus: Experiential learning, socialisation, exposure to new environments
- Skills: Basic commands, toilet training, crate training, gentle play
- Goal: Build confidence and curiosity in a safe, positive way
Puppy Training 2 (4–6 Months)
- Focus: Polite manners, leash walking, obedience foundations
- Skills: Responding reliably to commands, handling distractions, and reinforcing house rules
- Goal: Develop well-behaved habits and prepare for advanced training
Here we build on foundations, teaching your pup to focus, walk nicely on lead, and practise daily training routines that fit real family life. It’s also where we help many Cavoodles learn to settle, even when excitement levels are sky-high. Because let’s face it, your fluffy sidekick is adorable when excited, but a calm Cavoodle is even better.

From the very first session , it was clear she truly understood dogs and how to bring the best out of them. Bruno was struggling with leash pulling and basic obedience, and after our walk and train package we saw a complete transformation. Thanks to Nicole's patient approach Bruno is now more focused and walking so much better on the lead. If you are looking for a trainer who truly cares and delivers results Nicole is the trainer for you.Posted on Veronica Karlgren12/06/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I first discovered The Canine Classroom six years ago when I was training my first dog, and when I brought home my second, there was no question that I’d return. This time, unforeseen circumstances meant I had to return to work earlier than planned, so I started using their "Walk and Train" services. It’s been an absolute game changer. Not only do they take my puppy on walks, but they also support her training while I’m at work, which has been incredibly helpful. From the very beginning, their professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care for my pup have been truly outstanding. Lauren, Tegan, and Renee have all taken the time to answer my questions thoroughly and provided practical advice I can use at home. Thanks to their support, I feel much more confident and connected with my dog. I highly recommend The Canine Classroom to anyone looking for dedicated, compassionate, and skilled dog trainers!Posted on Robinanne Lavelle23/03/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ollie - Giant Schnauzer Many thanks Ryan. The home lesson was really helpful. Some of the lesson helped me to remember earlier strategies we had learned during the classes and other ideas you shared have really helped for the specific issue we have at home e.g. now being near a fairly busy road and undoing unwanted behaviours that others have helped create. Moving to new residence having your help and support has been invaluable. By the way, Ollie passed his Service Dog 2 yearly assessment - he even stayed without barking (he did whine) without the lead, in the shopping aisle, whilst I disappeared out of view before returning. Everything else on the 15 point test was a piece of cake for him. We look forward to continuing training with Ollie on Sundays with you once term 2 begins.Posted on Tammy Kuskopf20/03/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This has been an amazing experience from the start. We initially were skeptical of dog training programs because some want you to keep coming back for their business regardless of the dogs progress. However after going to a free intro session which was extremely comprehensive of about 2 hrs we were absolutely onboard with The Canine Classroom. Ryan is the guy that trains dog trainers so he knows his stuff. The membership design is so convenient - like a gym membership you can just turn up to any training session in your membership! We have 2 husky puppies that are 3 months old and am feeling so confident with the help of the team at Canine Classroom.Posted on Kaine Sherwood16/02/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently joined The Canine Classroom and opted for the Silver Membership, which included an in-home private lesson. Tegan visited our home and met with my wife, me, and our puppy, Xena. The experience was fantastic; Tegan provided us with extremely valuable insights tailored to what she observed and what we demonstrated during the session. Our ongoing training sessions every Sunday are something we eagerly look forward to. They've been invaluable in helping us continue Xena's training throughout the week. Highly recommend The Canine Classroom for anyone looking to train their dog effectively and enjoyably!Posted on Brianna Barry11/02/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Love both the group and 1:1 classes. Couldn't recommend a better way to get your pup started with obedience, and keeping up good dog manners for life.
Get Cavoodle Training Tips On Obedience and Behaviour
Cavoodles thrive on clarity. Our classes cover marker cues, basic commands, controlled play, and polite greetings, all reinforced with high-value rewards and plenty of treats.
We also introduce:
Calm acceptance of handling for future grooming and vet visits (those curls will need the maintenance!)
Simple new tricks to build confidence
Using puzzle toys for enrichment (great for separation anxiety)
Teaching your dog to relax after play
Early recall and loose-leash walk skills
These lessons help your pup develop into a relaxed, responsive companion, setting them up to become a well-behaved adult Cavoodle.
Socialisation Is Key
Just like most dogs, Cavoodles benefit hugely from structured social experiences. Early exposure to people, sounds, surfaces, and other pups teaches resilience and reduces fear-based reactions later on.
Our group classes help your dog learn how to share attention, play nicely, and feel confident in busy settings. This key stage of development supports emotional balance and makes future training smoother for everyone involved.
Common Challenges With Cavoodle Temperament In Puppies
Even most Cavoodles test boundaries. Without guidance, you might notice:
- Barking when bored or wanting attention
- Chewing or digging when stressed
- Jumping up on visitors
- Pulling on the lead
- Difficulty settling alone
- Accidents indoors if toilet training isn’t consistent
Our trainers provide extra support, practical training tips, knowledge of health problems, and routines that fit your household, helping your pup replace chaos with calm.
We’ll also chat through breed-specific things like skin allergies, picky eating, and general health issues, plus when to involve your vet if necessary.
Getting the Whole Family Involved In Your New Puppy
Training works best when it’s a team effort. Getting your family involved ensures consistency, builds bonds, and helps your Cavoodle see everyone as part of their world, not just one favourite human.
Kids can practise simple commands, adults can reinforce boundaries, and everyone celebrates progress. With shared patience and focus, your new family member learns faster and feels safer.
